Ocean Park Studio

Project Overview

Ocean Park Studio is the rear dwelling on the same Santa Monica property as Casa Nancina — a working art studio with its own kitchen, designed and renovated as a companion project to the front house. Where Casa Nancina called for warmth and character, the studio called for something different: clean, modern, and built to work hard.

The kitchen was gutted entirely and rebuilt from the ground up. Open floating shelves replace upper cabinets, keeping the space light and accessible. Under-counter refrigerators free up wall space and reinforce the studio's uncluttered aesthetic. Caesarstone concrete countertops — dense, durable, and virtually indestructible — were chosen deliberately for a space that doubles as a working surface. The rest of the dwelling was refreshed with a quiet hand, updating without overworking.
